ESRB Subnautica Rate: Below Zero for Multiple Platforms

Rated C for cold

The freezing exploration and crafting game Subnautica: Below Zero might not be for everyone, but it actually is. The ESRB just rated the game E for everyone. My mistake. Subnautica: Below Zero has been available in early access for about two years now. The sequel to 2018's Subnautica super success story seems to be out soon, or at least developer Unknown Worlds Entertainment is almost ready to release it. It is usually an implied sign behind an ESRB rating.

ESRB Subnautica Rate: Below Zero for Multiple Platforms

Not only is the E rating a very good thing for marketing, but would you want to check out its supported platforms? The ESRB has rated it for PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PS4, and PS5. Previously, the only confirmed port of Subnautica: Below Zero was for Nintendo Switch. The first game was also released on PS4 and Xbox One, so it's no surprise that Below Zero is launching on those platforms as well. The release of Series X and PS5 is quite interesting. We'll have to see what the differences are from the last gen version, if any. Also, with more Nintendo Switch ports being cloud releases, we'll have to see if the Switch will take advantage of this technology.

Unfortunately, an ESRB rating doesn't detail any release date, so we'll have to wait for that announcement. Subnautica spent four years in Early Access, but Unknown Worlds Entertainment isn't as baby-faced as it was then, so Below Zero might be closer to the finish line than the first game was at this stage. Subnautica: Below Zero is available now through early access on PC, but will be available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
