Fantasy Strike goes free to play

Also get two new fighters

Fantasy Strike, the 2D tactical fighting game created by a former Street Fighter developer, is now available for free. Now potential players can immediately access the full roster of fighters in the game with zero dollars down payment! This money, however, has to come from somewhere. So what can you pay for the future?

Fantasy Strike goes free to play

First, the free stuff: you get access to all fighters, online casual play, online ranked play, practice mode, and single match mode against AI. If you put in $20 for the base pack, you get access to Boss Rush, Arcade, Survival, Local VS, and online friend matches. But wait, there's more! Specifically, a whole bunch of cosmetic additions!

You can purchase alternate costumes, intro animations, victory animations, and special knockout animations. On top of that, there is a subscription service you can subscribe to which gives you access to the main costumes and the Replay Theater. This last thing is apparently some kind of TV channel dedicated entirely to fighting highlights and such. Again, if none of this appeals to you, you can just...play the game? Honestly, it seems like the base pack is the way to go, but I can't understand the dark heart of the most dedicated costume lover. Fantasy Strike is available now for PC, PS4 and Nintendo Switch. You can check out our review of the game here.
