Personalization is the key
A new update has just been released for Fortnite and will now allow players to create their own Battle Royale game modes. You and 15 other people can all fight on a private island with your own rules and other stipulations. The changes you can make to your own island aren't revolutionary by any means, but it's a nice touch and it will be interesting to see what the community comes up with. It's very reminiscent of Forge from Halo 3.
Once you are on your own island, you will be able to make some adjustments and changes. You can change the amount of gravity, weapons and other things around the world. If you want a game the only weapon available is a rocket launcher, you can definitely do that. It's very similar to Playground mode but with a few more options than before. It's a nice touch in a game that focuses so much on creativity and spontaneity.
Games are usually the most fun when the community is very involved. Whether it's through comments or having the ability to customize what they want to play. Battle Lab will definitely help with that. The funniest modes or matches tend to be created or inspired by the community in some way.
Hopefully Epic Games has more ideas like this for Fortnite in the future. They've done a really good job of releasing new and fresh content for their game since launch, and Fortnite's popularity reflects that. Always adding original and exciting additions to your game will always keep a loyal fan base.
