Upgrade Benches are a new addition to Fortnite Chapter 2. These useful benches will allow you to upgrade your weapons to the next level, provided you have the resources to do so. Benches will allow you to trade wood, stone, and metal building materials to upgrade your weapon. As long as you have enough gear, you can use any weapon for a higher row, giving you a better chance of winning your next fight.

The map above shows all of the upgrade bench upgrade locations discovered on the map so far, although we are adding new ones that will be found or added in the future. Upgrade benches tend to spawn inside buildings such as hangars, workshops, and industrial buildings rather than residential ones.
When you find one, approach it and you'll have the option to upgrade the rifle you're holding at the time. It will show the materials cost to upgrade it to the next level, and if you don't have all the materials you need, you won't be able to upgrade your weapon at all.
The cost of materials depends on the rarity you are upgrading to. For example, going from a gray to a green will cost 50 of each material. To change from green to blue, you will need 150 of each material. This means you can stop on the map, grab a weapon, farm materials, and possibly get to a purple rarity weapon without too much trouble, then focus more on moving around the map and armed combat.
I'm very curious to see what new tactics people are developing now that there are so many upgrade bench locations scattered around the map!
