After spending what felt like an eternity (well, to some players) cradled in a black hole, Fortnite has returned with Chapter 2 and a whole new world to play in. And what's more, now you can do it with boats!
We previously published a guide outlining where you can find these luxury water vehicles around the world. There are over 20 locations to choose from, depending on where you are on the map. But why do you just drive on water? You can take these things on earth.
This quick guide explains how to take boats ashore, in case you want to drive. But know that there is a price to pay in the process.
Get your boat on land
To operate your boat on a land surface, find a place where you can get out of the water in the area. It'll have to be a decent incline or else you'll hit something and stop in your tracks. Additionally, you can use your boat's booster to speed up. You'll drive pretty slow on a boat on land, but activate those boosters and you'll pick up some speed! Save it for when you need it, like when you want to help out a teammate.
Driving a boat on land is pretty rad. However, you will need to keep an eye out for something.
Watch your damage
You are not supposed to drive the boat on land. I mean, if it was, wouldn't we be driving them all? Well, not in winter.
If you choose to be a landowner with your Fortnite watercraft, that's fine and dandy. However, since it is not a ground vehicle, it will take damage. There is a total of 1 damage per second while driving on dry land and eventually it will wear out and explode. Make the most of your ride for you and your friends, get where you need to go, then get out before it happens.
Keep in mind that if you lose a ship in the game, there are more than enough left to go around. Just visit one of the locations highlighted in our previous guide and get back to driving on the ground. Because, you know, you're in a boat.
