Fortnitemares brings Halloween to Fortnite

Epic Games has officially introduced the Halloween game mode, Fortnitemares, to Fortnite Island. The game mode has taken over single player, duo and team modes, leaving fans of the battle royale title only Arenas, or Team Rumble to opt out of if they don't take advantage of the spooky new game mode. Fortnite is available now for free on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac and Mobile, with Fortnitemares running until November 3.

Fortnitemares 2020 revolves around Midas on his quest for revenge after being thwarted at the end of last season. Fortnitemares brings back popular weapons such as the Pumpkin Rocket Launcher and Demon Hunter's Crossbow, while the Witch's Broom will help you avoid ghouls looking for revenge. When players die in Fortnitemares, they return as a ghoul with unique abilities that allow you to track and defeat the remaining players. Achieving a victory in Fortnitemares requires you to either survive normal competition as well as ghouls, or a swarm of ghouls finding and defeating the last survivors for a Nitemare Royale.

Alongside Fortnitemares 2020, a series of challenges based on the spooky game mode allow players to receive big chunks of XP for riding a witch's broomstick or eating candies found on the map. This progress can earn Fortnitemares-specific rewards, but will also count towards your Battle Pass progress, making the new game mode interesting for anyone who purchased this season's pass. The POI previously known as The Authority has officially become Ruins at Fortnitemares, as Midas and his minions ransacked the place, leaving it tattered and destroyed.
