One of the challenges in Fortnite this week is to search 100 chests. It's a weird challenge, rewarding 80 XP instead of the usual 000. It is also a very long and endless quest which seems to confuse people. The reason is that it says “Rec 35 players” next to it.
Some people don't read it correctly, which means it takes four players to complete. We have even seen some Youtubers claiming to have information about a series of quests that can only be done in squads that come to the game. This, as far as we know, is not true at all, for a simple reason. You don't need four players at all to complete this challenge, and you don't need to be playing in a squad for the game to count all the chests you seek for this challenge.
You can very well complete this challenge in Solos. "Rec: 4 players" doesn't mean four players are needed, it just means Epic is letting you know that they recommend having four players to do this quickly. If you're playing on a team, any chests a team member searches will count, but in Solos you'll have to search them all yourself. There you go, there's no real cause for confusion about this, and Epic isn't forcing you to play Squads.
Chests searched anywhere on the map will count, in Solos, Duos, or Squads. Obviously you need to strike a good balance between landing on areas with lots of chests and not having to endlessly fight other players over them, but we suggest playing your matches as you normally would and that won't take you long to complete it. .
