How to Get/Capture/Catch Eternatos in Pokémon Sword and Shield

How to Get/Capture/Catch Eternatos in Pokémon Sword and Shield

Towards the end of the game, you will come face to face with Eternatos in Pokémon Sword and Shield. The fight is a Max Raid battle and luckily you will have three fighters with you to fight it.

SPOILER WARNING: Because it happens at the end of the game, we discuss the story. You have been warned.

Before jumping into the fight, it's essential to note that Eternatos is a Poison and Dragon-type Pokemon. You'll want to pick up an Earth, Psychic, Ice, or Fairy-type Pokémon. Dragon-types are also weak compared to other Dragon-types, but there are four choices for you to fight it. We therefore recommend these first four selections.

The encounter takes place towards the end of the game, so it is impossible to miss this Pokemon. The engagement takes place at the Hammlocke Power Plant before you fight Leon in the final story battle, after defeating President Rose.

When you first face Eternatos, it's a two-man fight. Once you defeat him for the first time, he transforms into his Dynamax version, then Hop jumps in to help you. During the fight, you and Hop pick up the Ancient Artifacts Sword and Shield, summoning Zacian and Zamazentra. You'll have the help of these two Pokémon, alongside your own and Hop's chosen Pokémon. Note that you are able to change your choice during this fight, unlike traditional Max Raid battles.

At the end of the fight, Eternatos is a guaranteed capture. You can use any Poké ball on it to add it to your collection.
