How many people play New World? New World Current Player Numbers

When New World launched in late September 2021, it was heralded as the next big step up in MMOs. Published by Amazon Games, with a big name developer behind it, it was expected to be a massive hit. But what do the current player numbers look like for New World?

In early November, New World player count typically peaks at around 400 concurrent users on Steam per day, according to the Steam Charts website. This figure does not include players who do not use the Steam client. New World can also be played by purchasing it directly from Amazon, and the client works without Steam.

These non-Steam player numbers are not publicly available, but estimates put the total number of all active players at around 450. This is a huge drop from the peak of over one million. of players at the beginning of October.

The game has seemingly hemorrhaged players due to a number of failures – promised server transfers being delayed, lack of cross-region transfers, and game-breaking bugs taking weeks to fix.

However, Amazon Games remains committed to developing the game in the future. The most recent patch on October 27 fixed a host of bugs and server transfers have finally been implemented.

Additionally, the new Outpost Rush mode sparked a revival in the remnant player base. A solid playerbase of around 450 players is nothing to complain about. It still leaves the game in the top five most played games on Steam and one of the most played MMOs in the world right now.
