How to Cure Vampirism in Skyrim

How to Cure Vampirism in Skyrim

A huge danger when fighting vampires in Skyrim is that you have the chance of contracting vampirism, but luckily there are few ways to get rid of vampiric blight.

How to Cure Vampirism in Skyrim

There are many ways players can get rid of vampire sickness in Skyrim, the first of which is by using a sickness-curing potion that can be found and purchased at potion shops. You can also craft these potions via alchemy using the following resources.

  • Charred Skeever skin.
  • Falcon feathers.
  • Vampire Dust.
  • Plumes de sterne de Felsaad.
  • Mudcrab Chitin.

You can also pray at an Arkay shrine to get rid of sickness, while asking followers of Stendarr to heal you – these shrines can be found in temples in most major cities in the game. You can also find followers of Stendarr in the Hall of the Vigilant. However, these methods are only viable before you start getting blood-hungry, so if you got the pop-up for that, it's too late to use any of these remedies.

At this point you will need to search for a certain quest and NPC by visiting a local tavern and using the Did you hear rumors with the innkeeper option. But before you can get this option, you'll need to make sure you're in the fourth stage of vampirism, which you can get by not feeding for four days.

At this point, find the innkeeper and use the dialogue option. Eventually, the innkeeper will tell you about a certain Falion who studies vampires in Morthal. After talking to the innkeeper you will get a quest called Rising At Dawn and need to travel north to Morthal and find Failon at his home inside the town.

When you talk to him, you may need to get a Dark Soul Gem for a ritual to cure vampirism - you can get Dark Soul Gems from the following sources.

  • Buy it from Falion: Falion has a Black Soul Gem in his inventory that you can buy from him for 1300k.
  • Loot it: You can also loot Dark Soul Gems from dungeons and from creatures such as Necromancers, Briarhearts from the Forsaken, Hagravens, and Giants.
  • Buy it from Enthir: Enthir at Winterhold College will also sometimes carry black gems which will be purchased for the same price as Falion gems.

After you get the gem, you'll need to fill it using the Magic Soul Trap, which can be purchased from many magic vendors, including those at the College of Winterhold. You can also get enchanted weapons with the spell, which is probably the easiest method to fill the gem. Just get an enchanted weapon with a soul trap and start killing someone with it to fill the black gem.

Once you've completed the gem, you'll then need to return to Falion, who will explain that you'll need to meet him outside of town at dawn. At this point, you'll need to go to a location marked on your map in the morning around 5am in-game. Upon arriving, talk to Falion; after a dialogue, you and Falion will then perform the ritual, which will cure you of vampirism for good.
