One of the main premise of Monster Hunter Stories 2 is to acquire eggs from Monster Dens so you can hatch them and bond. With this bond, they fight for you against other monsters as loyal companions.
There are monster lairs on the map, you can see them when you roam the lands, and you can even come across the golden rare lairs. Sometimes you want a particular monster added to your crew instead of the random chance it's in the next egg you find.
MHS2 has mechanics in place where you can force a monster to retreat. Although this depends on many variables and is not guaranteed to work. This will create a monster lair of that monster that you can enter and steal an egg. Significantly increase the chances of getting an egg from this species.
Here are all the ways to increase the chance of knocking back all hatchable monsters. To find a specific monster, Ctrl + F and type the monster's name.
