The name Concept Destruction tells you a lot about what you need to know about this pen and paper PlayStation 4 racing game. It's a fighting game inspired by the PS1's legendary Destruction Derby, and it's effectively a proof of concept. In many ways, it feels like a half-game, as you work your way through Drawn to Death's arenas, crumpling cardboard and ejecting batteries.

The physics are quite fun: your car will be crushed and almost undriveable as events slow down. You earn credits based on how much damage you deal, and this is spread over several stages in the game's main Championship mode. Depending on how many points you rack up, you'll unlock different vehicles with unique handling patterns .

Managing your boost and knowing when to put your foot down becomes a key part of success, but there are times when you'll be slammed into your back and completely pulled out, which can be frustrating. You can tweak the settings to alter the difficulty, and a local multiplayer mode keeps you engaged. But it's a novelty at best, and once you smash a few cardboard cars, you won't be coming back.
