Tekken 3.21 patch 7 finally features the most powerful character in the game

Leroy Smith, Tekken 7's latest DLC character alongside Ganryu, has been a thorn in the competitive side of the game since it launched in December last year. Even on the day of its release, many professional gamers quickly noticed how powerful Leroy was, and then once people learned how to use it, its strength became very clear.

Huge damage, crazy parries, deadly moves that were maddeningly safe to throw – Leroy had it all. He was such a problem that Tekken's first major tournament of 2020 - Evo Japan - was nearly ruined by his involvement. Not only did one player using Leory win it all, but six different players in the top eight used Leroy to make it happen. Without a doubt, he's been the most overpowered character in Tekken 7 since the game hit consoles in 2017.

Fortunately, Leroy's time in the spotlight may have finally come to an end. Obviously, it's a bit too early to tell if he's still Tekken 7's best character, but he's been nerfed heavily via patch 3.21, which is available to download now. The update only includes Leroy-specific balance tweaks, lowering the damage for many of his moves and removing some of their more powerful properties. You can check the full patch notes here.
