There are 17 chapters in Yakuza 0 and 100 sub-stories in the game. The protagonist changes every two chapters to find themselves playing Kiryu and Majima. New sub-stories are unlocked as the story progresses, but they can be difficult to follow.

Players receive all sorts of rewards at the end of sub-stories and will need them to achieve their achievements, trophies, and CP. Sub-stories can be found on the map by playing mini-games and building friendships with NPCs.
