Grinding Bones was the only way players could get Bonemeal in Minecraft. However, with the passage of time and several updates, there is now another way; It is with an object called a composter. That said, here's how to craft a composter in Minecraft.

To craft a composter in Minecraft, you will need seven wooden slabs placed in all but the top and middle slots of a crafting table. If you need an example of how to arrange the pattern, check out our image below.



Once crafted, place it anywhere and you can start crafting Bone Meal by following the steps below.

How to Use a Composter in Minecraft

To use a composter, you will first need to craft one and then place it on the ground. After that, you will need to fill it with compostable materials/items; you can turn a lot of things into bone meal, so check out the list below for all the items you can use in a composter.

  • Herbe
  • Water lilies
  • Flowers

  • Pain
  • Biscuits

  • Seeds
  • Beet

Chances are you already have one or more of these items in various chests in your base. If so, pick up those items and head to your newly designed composter. When you are your composter, use your interaction key to put the object inside the composter; keep doing this until it looks like the image above.

Once it appears white at the top of the composter, click on it once, and bone meal will fly nearby. After that, you can then use your bone meal for various things, like growing trees or crops faster.
