How to Remove Curse of Binding in Minecraft

How to Remove Curse of Binding in Minecraft

Curse of Binding is an enchantment in Minecraft that can be applied to player-worn items such as Armor, Elytra, and Mob Heads. When this enchantment is applied to a worn item, that item cannot be removed unless killed, cheated, or broken. Because Curse of Binding is permanent, many players want to know how to remove it.

If you are playing Survival and the curse is applied to a worn piece of armor, you cannot remove that piece of armor. You also cannot remove the Binding Curse from the armor before wearing it. A grindstone will remove all enchantments except curses, so there's essentially no legit way to remove Curse of Binding or Armor enchanted with in Survival.

If you're playing Hardcore Survival then you're stuck with whatever you're carrying until it breaks. If the item doesn't have a durability aspect (like mob heads or carved pumpkins), your character will be stuck with that item until they die.

However, there is a way to remove Curse of Binding from specific objects with enchantment. If you applied it to a Mob Head or Carved Pumpkin, you can remove it by placing the object as a block and then breaking the block. This will cause the item to drop as an item without the binding curse. This does not work on Armor or Elytra. If they are placed or dropped as objects, the enchantment is not removed.

Having said all of the above, it seems that Curse of Binding is aptly named and is actually tied to the object it applies to, and tied to the person holding the object!
